VERDICT: Pats Choice is the starting point after snapping a run of five runner-up finishes in a row at Navan last month. He got a handy lead and maintained it with a solid performance. The deluge of rain that is forecast may not play to his strengths, though. Hgranca De Thaix got through soft ground over further when last seen in a Punchestown novice handicap hurdle in January. He finished third in a big field and could build upon that. Jockey Michael O'Sullivan looks good value for his 7lb claim. There was plenty of cut in the ground when Archies Charm obliged by an easy four and a quarter lengths in a handicap chase at Downpatrick over a year ago. He is likely to be back over fences soon after this seasonal reappearance, but could be coming home stronger than most. Clairemc was a beaten favourite at Tramore in June, but could show the benefit of time off since then. Time Marches On gets first-time cheekpieces after being placed at Tipperary in June.
