VERDICT: Homme Public shouldn't be judged too harshly on his seventh-placed finish in the Red Rum at the Aintree Festival last month. The seven-year-old still has room for improvement over fences, particularly now facing a stiffer test of stamina, and this drop into class 3 company could help him regain the winning thread. The biggest threat may emerge from Soul Icon, who arrives on the back of runner-up efforts at Kempton and Ayr. Northern Bound is also noted.
