VERDICT: Mack The Man arrested a slump in form when runner-up at Ayr and then built on that by going one position better at Musselburgh. An 8lb rise still leaves him well treated compared to the pick of his efforts and he actually drops in grade now. Polisud very nearly completed a Newcastle brace, and Rascal also arrives on the back of a pleasing second place. Lively Citizen outran big odds to make the frame at Aintree's Grand National meeting and competes here off the same mark.
