VERDICT: Vanillier can make up for a luckless Cheltenham run by gaining some form of compensation. The Gavin Cromwell-trained gelding, who couldn't land a telling blow in the Grand National latest, was prominent in the early stages at Cheltenham before dropping towards the rear after almost taking the wrong route. Having to make up considerable ground in order to get back into the race, the grey did exceptionally well to run on for third. Granted a clearer passage, he is very much the horse to beat. A previous winner of this race, the veteran Vital Island holds leading claims despite his advancing years. Three By Two should be involved as well.
