VERDICT: Calanthe was caught close home at Kempton and is expected to give another bold sight from the front. He may have to settle for a supporting role again, though, if Darvel turns up in the same form that carried him to victory on his Bath comeback. His ordinary all-weather record can be ignored, given his limited experience on artificial surfaces. Union Island was beaten less than a length over C&D last week and returns on the same rating. Mr Fustic was a place ahead of Francesi when fourth in a separate division of the Kempton contest in which Calanthe was pipped.
