VERDICT: Berliath finished a well-beaten third behind a stablemate who went on to acquit himself well in Aintree's Grade 2 bumper on his Taunton introduction. He will be expected to step forward, but maybe The Long Point can make a successful start to his Rules career because the form of his point-to-point third in Ireland seems decent. He sold for 60,000 pounds after it, not much more than Octo Gane changed hands for as a three-year-old. Sayva, John Barbour and Dawn Parade are other interesting first-timers.
