VERDICT: Arecibo made a highly encouraging start to life under the guidance of Declan Carroll when touched off in a class 2 event at Musselburgh on his return to the fray last month. However, the vote goes to Spirit Of Applause, who could only manage sixth at Nottingham when last seen in September but he was dropped 2lb for that effort. The son of Charm Spirit lurks on an appealing mark and he ought to go close. Maximum Impact and Tatterstall are just two others to consider.
