VERDICT: Hopeful looked a filly to keep on side when easily seeing off a subsequent winner at Newcastle in January, although she blotted her copybook over the same track and trip last time. A well-bred daughter of Make Believe, Andrew Balding's filly is intriguing on her handicap debut and stepping up in trip could bring about some improvement. Making his return after ending last season with a highly-creditable second at Kempton, No Surrender looks to be the main danger, while Never Ending is one to watch on her first start for a new yard.
