VERDICT: Having run out a ready winner at Exeter on Friday, Captain Wallace proved a different proposition on faster ground conditions. The gelded son of Milan looks more than capable of defying a 7lb penalty and a quick turnaround may be the only thing that stands in his way. Mermaids Cave is an intriguing contender on her stable bow for James Owen and an improved bid wouldn't be a surprise, while first-time cheekpieces could get Mountain Pass travelling with more verve.
