VERDICT: Competitive race for grade, with an interesting mix of seasoned handicappers and relatively unexposed, potentially progressive types. James Owen has good recent form with his thoroughbreds and, as a former champion Arabian trainer, all runners warrant respect. A case could be made for all three of his runners, though Mayfair is on the small side to shoulder top weight. Upstart Crow could be on a very workable mark and Heritage Valentino has had the measure of most of these, though the absence of headgear today is a concern. Al-Hatab has an eye-catching jockey booking, but a chance is taken on ALOOF to progress back on quick ground.
