VERDICT: Mafia Power is on an attractive mark in comparison to his peak form when with Richard Hannon and showed he retains ability by winning his solitary start for Mick Appleby over track and trip in October. Two subsequent near-misses for Archie Watson suggests the gelding has responded well to any changes in his training regime and he looks the one to beat. Richard R H B won this a couple of years ago and is a threat with cheekpieces now applied, while dual C&D winner Busby is also considered.
