VERDICT: Next Second signed off 2023 with a second to So Sleepy at Chelmsford but she improved past that rival on her reappearance, finishing a place in front of her when third at Wolverhampton. That's not to say So Sleepy won't be a big threat because the top-weight should also step forward from that comeback effort. Mellys Flyer is sliding down the weights and could pop up before too long.
