VERDICT: Blue Lord has top form and is suited by conditions. A huge horse, he now seems to be coming to himself and won impressively here at Christmas. Gentleman De Mee was beaten 41 lengths then but blundered at halfway and is better judged on his Aintree defeat of high-class Edwardstone last April, and can chase home the selection. Dunvegan finished second in last year's renewal and ran well in a recent handicap but was three lengths behind Gentleman De Mee in December's Tingle Creek. Sceau Royal showed high-class chase form last spring but his only Grade 1 success was in 2017 and is now 11. Fastorslow won a 2019 chase so is difficult to place, and with his hurdles' rating seemingly kept in waiting, runs in an unsuitable race.
