Dark Trooper to storm home at Royal Ascot

Dark Trooper to storm home at Royal Ascot

Day 5 is the final day of Royal Ascot 2024 and it looks an excellent card. Here are the thoughts of our Long Shot tipster.

Dark Trooper showed some very smart form as a handicapper last season, including when winning over this very track and distance in August and also when not beaten far in a Group 3 contest here in October. He has since switched stables and raced in the Middle East during the start of the year performing well without winning. However when back on European soil he won a conditions race at Saint-Cloud in preperation for today's race in very good style. Only 4-years old now, Dark Trooper may well have plenty more to offer and back at track and distance he has done well on in the past he must go close to winning today. Dark Trooper rates a 5 star each way Pick.

Unequal Love was a very progressive filly last season winning 4 of her 7 starts, however she took that form to another level this year as a 4-year old. She returned to action in May being a clear cut winner of a listed race and then ran a very good race to finish 5th in a Group 2 race at the Curragh last time out, taking on the boys and some very seasoned sprinters. Today's race represents a drop in class for her and she could well be very well handicapped off a mark of 102. Although she may lack some experience in the hustle and bustle of a big race handicap, the track and distance ought to suit her really well. Unequal Love rates a 3 star each way Pick.
