Sea King to storm home at Royal Ascot

Jasour showed smart form during the middle of last season, including when winning the group 2 July Stakes at Newmarket. However his form tailed off a little at the back end of the year albeit in Group 1 company. Jasour then made his 3-year old reappearance at Ascot in early May and was a very convincing winner of a trial for this race. Jasour tanked his way through the race and came from last to first in great style, the horse he beat in 2nd has gone onto win since at listed level. Jasour looks to have much in his favour today, the track, distance and ground conditions should all play to his strengths and he should play a part at the finish. Sea King has shown gradual improvement in handicaps in the past two seasons and some very good efforts have been sandwiched in between some more modest ones. However he was a taking winner of a good handicap over 1m4f on his racecourse reappearance this season in April. He had to wait for gaps, after travelling powerfully in the race, once they appeared he went onto win cosily. Connections have not run him since and that may well be to protect his handicap mark but also the fact he has a very good record after a break, so the 55 day absence from the track could be a positive. With a good draw in stall 6 to work from and the stable already having a winner here this week, Sea King looks like running a big race. Sea King rates a 4 star each way Pick.

Vaguely Royal has won 3 of his 13 races under rules so far and has put up some good efforts in defeat along the way too. He has been kept busy on the all-weather this winter and although he has not run bad over distance of 2m and 1m6f he looks like he will be far better back down to today's distance of 1m4f. Last time at Goodwood he travelled supremely well in the race only for the petrol tank to empty out 2f from home. Vaguely Royal has some very good from on fast ground and today's big galloping track should suit him really well. Vaguely Royal rates a 4 star each way Pick.
