Kalif Du Berlais was seen finishing 3rd in a grade 1 novice hurdles at Aintree at the end of last season behind the very useful Sir Gino and was rated by his trainer as an exciting novice chaser for this year. However things didn't go to plan on his chase debut at Carlisle at the start of the month where he fell 4 fences from home. Kalif Du Berlais had prior to that mishap jumped really well and was tanking through the race, looking the likeliest winner. He would have been sure to have done plenty of schooling at home since and his current handicap mark of 135 may underestimate his ability by some margin. Kalif Du Berlais rates a 5 star win Pick.
