Caldwell Potter has a long way to go to justify the price tag paid by connections for him at the sales but he is a horse that has enormous potential and started with the first repayment when winning at Carlisle at the start of the month on his chasing debut. He jumped really well in the main that day and travelled with plenty of zest before quickening away from his rivals to win by 5 lengths. That was the perfect start and there looks sure to be more to come, especially at today's track which will put an emphasis on jumping. The extra distance should also suit Caldwell Potter well and this grade 1 winning novice hurdler looks like heading towards graded company over fences, Caldwell Potter rates a 4 star win Pick.

King Turgeon showed only fair form last season but was given a wind operation in the summer and has returned a different model this term. He destroyed his rivals at Chepstow in October winning by 10 lengths eased down. He then went to Aintree and was a clear cut winner of the Grand Sefton, jumping really well and staying on strongly. The handicapper has put him up 8lbs for that win but it might not be enough to stop him completing the the hat-trick and there could well be a lot more to come. If King Turgeon can get out in front and make plenty of use of his good jumping, he could be a hard horse to pass at the finish. King Turgeon rates a 4 star win Pick.
