VERDICT: Recent maiden winners Immediate Edge, Beynac and Casus Belli won well enough to suggest they could all make decent handicap debuts. Immediate Edge has gate one and should get the extra on pedigree. Casus Belli is proven over the trip but is meeting a fair bit better than he met in the maidens. Beynac has over-raced previously but won by a street last time and could get the race run to suit again. High Queue and Diesel's Shadow are holding form but both are returning from breaks and could just need it. Quatermain (4kg claim) and Flag Bearer must be respected on form.
