VERDICT: Venetia Williams has her string in fine form at present, and Alcedo gets the vote to land the spoils. He posted a low-key effort when fourth on his seasonal/chase debut over 2m3f at Exeter last month, but this winning hurdler looks likely to play a starring role now eased 3lb in slightly calmer waters. It would be no surprise if Rivers Corner improved over fences and he could emerge as the main danger to the selection stepping back in trip for his chasing bow, while the unexposed A Moments Madness is also noteworthy.
