VERDICT: The penny seemed to drop with Midnight Stagger at Down Royal last time. Beaten less than a length when caught by the winner in the closing stages, he will likely launch another serious challenge with an apprentice's 5lb claim further helping his cause. Katie Ross could only manage fourth behind the selection, though she wasn't beaten that far, and looks worthy of another try over today's distance. Zaraahmando was no match for the winner when runner-up at the same Down Royal fixture, but Bamako may prove more of a threat representing last year's winning trainer.
